Gin & Art

Saturday, October 13, 2012.

Today, I learned something important, a life lesson rather… always be prepared! I left home anticipating everything except a possible photo op. As the gallery intern, I decided to ditch my role as a photographer for the day and do whatever needed to be done. With only 15 minutes till the opening, I hear “The photographer can’t make it!”

My initial thought, don’t look at me I have no gear… but really why would they look at me, no one except the gallery director knew that I was a photog. Nevertheless, I hightailed it out of the office, hoping that no one would ask because I didn’t want to explain why the photographer left home without her camera. Just when I thought I dodged the bullet, I heard my name.

Like a scared little puppy I returned to the office with my tail between my legs. “Kim you don’t have your Canon with you, do you?” I replied “Nooo” well here use my camera. I was handed a Nikon… as if that wasn’t bad enough I had no external flash. The expression on my face PRICELESS!

So here goes…

The Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series 2012 — An art competition sponsored by Bombay Sapphire in partnership with Russell & Danny Simmons of Rush Philanthropic Art Foundation — DC edition.

  1. Nice! Most times no flash gives the best images. Keeps the mood of the event :). Never be scared of the mistakes you may make it will only hold you back. If you do make them learn and grow from the experience.
